Principal’s Message

Engelwood Family,
I am Danielle M. Spooney, Principal of Engelwood Elementary. I am excited to welcome you to the 2026-2027 school year! A huge, “CHIRP, CHIRP!!”, is going to our new and returning families.
This school year will be full of new adventures, faces, opportunities, fun, and learning. At Engelwood, we are committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment where ALL scholars can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We believe that every Cardinal can achieve greatness, and we hold all to high expectations -not only in their academic performance, but also in their character and personal growth.
Our teachers and staff are dedicated to providing benchmark-based instruction that is innovating and engaging, while building meaningful relationships, and fostering a culture where every scholar feels supported, loved, and challenged.
A strong partnership between school and home is necessary for a successful school year. Your involvement, support, and encouragement, are paramount for your child’s success, and we look forward to collaborating with you throughout the year. We welcome parents and guardians to volunteer and appreciate the contributions they make to our school community. We invite families to attend parent engagement events and workshops throughout the year. Together, we create a strong partnership that supports the success of every scholar. Please connect with us on ParentSquare, Facebook, Instagram, and our school website to remain informed of our happenings.
With respect, open communication, and shared goals – we will work to make this, the best year yet! My door is open and I welcome your thoughts, feedback, concerns, suggestions, and participation.
As we continue to soar together this year, our theme, “Stronger Together: The Cardinal Way! Learning, Leading, and Growing as One,” serves as both our inspiration and commitment. There is no limit to what we can accomplish.
It’s a GREAT day to be Cardinal! Chirp, Chirp!!
It is my pleasure to serve you,
Danielle M. Spooney
Principal
