Bell Schedule

SCHOOL DAY (8:15 – 3:30 on Mon, Tues, Thurs, and Fri; 8:15 – 2:30 on Wed.) & OFFICE HOURS (7:30 – 4:00 everyday)

The elementary school day is seven hours and 15 minutes. It is important that your child is on time and in class every day for the entire school day. Whenever possible, scheduling your child’s appointments outside the school day insures he/she benefits from a full day of instruction.

ARRIVAL

In the mornings, parent drop-off is on the west driveway by the cafeteria. In the mornings, car riders should not be dropped off in the bus loading area (Stonewall Jackson Road side). Supervision for students on school grounds begins at 8:15 A.M. NO CHILDREN SCHOULD BE ON SCHOOL GROUNDS BEFORE 8:15 A.M.   Parents who drop off their students before 8:15 A.M. will be contacted to make other arrangements. Students arriving before the first bell at 8:35 A.M. will be directed to the PE Pavilion. The playground is not open before school.

If your student eats breakfast, they should eat first and then go to the appropriate waiting area. Breakfast will be served from 8:15 to 8:35 A.M in the cafeteria. Students arriving after 8:35 A.M. will receive a "grab-and-go" breakfast to take with them to their classrooms.

Students should be in class and seated between 8:35 and 8:45 A.M. Students arriving to school after 8:45 A.M. must go by the front office for an admittance slip before reporting to the classroom. Please do not walk them directly to the classroom when they are late, we will call for a student escort. We value every minute with your child and believe he/she benefits from a full day with the teacher. You will be contacted if your child is frequently tardy.

BIKE RIDERS AND WALKERS

A bicycle rack is provided for bicycles. Please insure your child brings a lock to secure the bicycle. ELEMENTARY AGED STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR HELMETS WHEN RIDING THEIR BIKES. Bike riders and walkers will be dismissed at the 3:00 P.M. bell. These students will be released at the back gate near the portables. Parents ON FOOT ONLY should wait for a walker at the walkers’ gate and NOT on campus. IF YOU COME TO THE CAMPUS IN A CAR, YOU ARE A CAR RIDER.

BUS RIDERS

Bus transportation is provided to students living more than two miles from the school. Students must, however, obey the bus rules and follow the driver’s directions at all times. Students may be suspended from the bus for violations of the bus rules in accordance with the OCPS Code of Student Conduct. Please take the time to discuss these rules with your student.

1) Stand off the roadway while waiting for the bus.

2) Remain in your seat at all times while bus is moving and until the bus comes to a full, complete stop.

3) Keep body parts and belongings inside the bus at all times.

4) Talk in a normal tone of voice at all times. Do not talk when bus is crossing railroad tracks or when

the driver turns on the overhead light.

5) The bus driver may assign students to seats.

6) There is no eating or drinking on the bus.

7) You must be at your bus stop on time. The driver cannot wait.

8) Students who violate school rules at the bus stop are subject to disciplinary action.

Questions about bus routes and stops should be directed to the Transportation Department at 407-317-3800 or you can check the OCPS website: www.ocps.net for bus stop information.

CAR RIDERS

Students being picked up in a car at the end of the day are assigned to the pick-up area in front of the cafeteria. For the safety of our students you MUST have a car tag displayed with the students’ names on it or they will NOT be released to you until we check proper identification.

Dismissal of Car Riders is at the 3:00 P.M. bell. PLEASE stay in your car in the car line and we will get your child to you. Our parking lot is very small and can’t hold everyone if you park. NO STUDENT WILL BE RELEASED TO ANYONE ON FOOT FROM THE CAR RIDER LINE. Students not picked up by 3:30 P.M. will be sent to the front office and you will need to come in to pick them up and sign them out.
